Over the past couple of years, one thing that I’ve heard from many of my clients is that their billing systems are in desperate need of streamlining. This tends to hit some industries more than others, but all businesses need streamlined billing systems – and many owners need help executing on them.
Each year, I choose a word that defines the direction I’ll take my business. This word also defines a lesson I want to instill in my audience, a lesson that can help them strengthen their businesses and uplevel in various areas of their life. This year, my theme word is “innovation” – and as we’re starting a new year, I’d like to share 5 ways you can innovate to conquer 2024.
As a business owner, we often go through lessons that are difficult to learn – but all of them are worthwhile. If we are intentional about learning those lessons, we can grow quite a bit from them, as can our businesses. And although the process can be difficult, I’m grateful for the lessons I’ve learned.
These lessons have allowed me to gain insights that make me a better leader, a better coach, and a better mentor. They also have helped me to avoid prior mistakes, helping me to grow a stronger business and a stronger team.
Around this time of year, most business owners are busy planning not only to try to meet their end of year goals, but for the upcoming year. Planning is a wonderful thing – in fact, it’s one of my favorite things – but unless those plans make it to your calendar, they probably won’t happen.

This process doesn’t have to be as daunting as it might seem – and with the right framework in place, it can be a lot easier than you might think.
If you have talked or worked with me, you know that I love checklists. I make them for myself and my clients, and I ask my team for them constantly. They’re a really good way to make sure that nothing falls through the cracks. One thing that small business owners might not think of needing a checklist for is business planning – but I assure you, it’s helpful, especially at the end of the year.
While every business will have different needs, the same areas of planning will apply to all of them, even yours!
