Master Entrepreneur Work-Life Balance with Upleveling Your Business

Entrepreneurs wear a lot of hats. The plates are constantly spinning, and busy business owners constantly strive not to let any of them drop – professionally or personally. That does not leave a lot of room for balance.

Balance is essential, though, in every area of life.

November is National Entrepreneurship Month, and here at UYB, we are celebrating by helping our readers and clients find ways to balance work, family, self care, and more – all while growing a business that allows you to thrive!

Family and Relationships

One area that many entrepreneurs struggle with is relationships. Starting a business is hard work, and growing that business takes a lot of effort, time, and money. This can take a toll on a relationship or marriage – especially if both partners are business owners!

At UYB, we encourage business owners to be intentional about putting the proper focus on different areas of their lives, both professionally and personally. As a business grows, it is inevitable that the owner will face different changes and challenges.  How you face those challenges makes a big difference.

Life is a journey, and we need to take that in – to find what makes you thrive!

One important factor to consider as you hit growth milestones is the necessity of outsourcing. Think about it – when you first started your business, you probably bootstrapped a lot of things. You were it. And that works for the first little bit, but as you started to gain clients and grow, there were suddenly a lot more tasks on your to-do list.

You simply cannot do all of them.

This is why we are so passionate about systems and building strong teams. Systems allow your business to run efficiently and effectively (even when you are not there), which will remove so much stress from your life. Learning how to hire, onboard, and work with a rockstar team will allow you to quickly scale your business without sacrificing what is most important to you.

I recently had the opportunity to talk with Robert Solano about how to successfully navigate the challenges that entrepreneurial couples face, and he brought out some amazing insights. Health and Nutrition

Another area that tends to be a constant challenge for entrepreneurs is eating healthy, exercising, and taking time to do what we love.

Think about it: when you are in the middle of a crazy work day, your to-do list is overflowing, everyone needs your attention, and the emails are piling up…what reaction comes to mind?

Are you likely to take an hour off to have a peaceful lunch, go for a walk, and do something that re-energizes you? Or are you likely to put your head down and plow through your work, thinking that you can grab something later?

While a strong work ethic and diligence are necessary to grow your business, you cannot neglect your health, at least not for long.

If taking time out of your day seems like a luxury you cannot afford right now, look for small changes you can make.

• Pre-pack your lunches so you have something healthy you can grab when you have a moment, whether you are working from home or at the office.


• When you have 10 minutes free, step outside for a quick walk. (You will be surprised at how well this can clear your mind!)


• Have water handy to sip on through the day. Not only will this keep you hydrated, but it will help keep you focused as well. (It will also help you cut down on coffee and soda!)

These are just a few suggestions, but they could do a lot to make your life a bit easier!

Finances and Work-Life Balance

Finances are a challenging area for many business owners. Not only is it an area that many people are a bit uncomfortable digging into, but it also tends to be a source of stress – and that stress can carry over to other areas of life.

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night panicking because of your finances? Or gotten into an argument with your spouse or partner because something was not taken care of?

All businesses (and business owners) go through times when finances are less than ideal, but getting your financial systems in order will prevent many of the “surprises” that can ruin your day and keep you up at night.

In addition, business owners need to look at how they save and invest their profits so as to create long-term financial wealth and security.  Just a little focal energy in this area can make such a difference.
