Engaging Hobbies to Boost Entrepreneurial Mindset and Productivity
Successful entrepreneurs often have multiple hobbies and are constantly finding new ones. Why? Because it gives them an outlet. It gives them a release. It allows them to clear their head, enjoy life, and then go back and tackle those hard matters.
Interesting hobbies, or “activities done for pleasure”, are all in the eyes of the holder. What may be fun for one person may not extract the same joy for someone else.
Here are some ideas to develop more hobbies, whether indoor or outdoor so that you can thrive like other successful entrepreneurs!
Physical Activities To Burn Off Some Steam!
Physical activities like walking, bicycle riding, a taking a run are great activities to get the heart rate up. These can be done solo or with others. They can be for short durations or hours or days. They can be mixed with other activities from weightlifting to bird watching and they can be done while listening to music, books, or in silence. There are so many options to batch things you love to do to make the best use of your time.
For those who love more organized activities, online exercise programs and movement classes like Zumba, Pilates, and yoga are another way to get some exercise in a fun and motivational way. While rarer to find these in person these days, it is still fun to meet up and have some accountability partners to make sure the activity happens.
Create Beautiful Things!
For some of us, we love to create and be able to enjoy the result. For instance, I love to garden. I love being out in my yard. I love pulling some weeds (especially after a particularly hard day), and I love enjoying the fruits, vegetables, and flowers of my labor.
Woodworking is another creative outlet that can be filled with so many niches and allows a person to constantly be growing and honing their skills. Similarly, glassblowing, pottery, and basketmaking have endless possibilities once you learn the basics.
And then there are the culinary hobbies. There are barbeque aficionados and dessert addicts. There are regional specialists and those who love to explore the same food done dozens of ways (think Paella!). There are those who focus on food by dietary focus (vegetarian, healthy, raw, keto, etc.), and those who love to create elaborate complex dishes. For those who love cooking as a hobby, the options are unending!
Find Your Inner Artist!
Another category people love is releasing the inner artist. Painting alone can come in so many different variations from watercolors and acrylics to oils and charcoals. Crafting with beads, threads, fabrics, and glue can create endless opportunities.
Music and literature are similarly broad and fascinating. From creating music with physical instruments to crafting digital music the sounds and combinations are limitless. And then we can layer in the writing of new music, creating arrangements from older just listening to the classics we love. Similarly, whether reading and writing literature, novels, poetry, or any number of other genres. Many different hobbies can cover this.
Engaging in these types of creative adventures is a great way to use a different part of the brain and attract a different type of thinking. That’s going to help you be more productive when you go to tackle other problems in your business.
Give Back to Expand our World.
Successful entrepreneurs usually have multiple hobbies they love to do, and over the years, they find new interesting hobbies to hone new skills and find new ways to thrive. Time spent on hobbies not only gives the brain time to rest but also to develop other “out of the box” thinking that can become their secret weapon in business.
So what’s your hobby that makes you thrive?
And what do you want to learn in the future?
