3 Tips to Help You Get More COACHING While Spending Less
One of the most common questions people ask when looking into our coaching program is, “How can I ensure that I’ll get the most out of the money I spend on coaching?” I love this question! It gives me the chance to share 3 valuable tips to help you get the most out of your coaching investment without spending more and more money all the time.
Right now, so many people are on a self-proclaimed “spending freeze” – and yet they are wasting money on subscriptions and coaching programs that aren’t really providing the value they need. The right coaching program can be an incredible value; here are three tips to get the most out of coaching while spending less!
Tip #1: Find A Coaching Company That Meets You Where You Are
All too often, people sign up for a coaching program only to realize that it’s a long, drawn-out contract or a cookie-cutter program that isn’t tailored to their needs. It often has some valuable information, but what they really needed was only a simple part of that.
In order to get the most out of your coaching, make sure that everything you’re paying for is of value to you.
The first step is to take inventory of where you are and what you need help with. (A strong coaching firm will ask you about this during your initial consultation.) Have conversations with different coaching companies to see how they can meet those needs.
When you’re considering different programs, it’s also important to determine how flexible each program is with your timeline. What is their projected time frame to help you build systems, train up a new person, or streamline your processes and workflows?
Now let’s be clear: a lot of business owners aren’t sure where to start or how long it will take. That’s where you should reach out, gather information, and use those experts to give you that knowledge. Doing so will equip you can make good, informed choices about what works for you right now.
- Do you need help with strategy? Or more of the tactical plan of how to effectuate that plan?
- Do you need help with marketing, or perhaps intake and sales?
- Do you need help with your workflows and how long it should take each person to do each element of a process?
- Do you need help developing leadership skills and managing your team to hold them accountable and equip them for productivity?
- And what about your financials? Do you need some help with your financial controls, or are you good with those elements?
Finally (and I’d say most importantly), are your systems well documented AND does your team understand how to comply with the procedures and systems? Are they equipped to draft new ones to stay up with the changing times?
We believe that investing your time to find a coaching program that can help you in the way that you need, one meets you where you are, is the best investment for your business success.
Tip #2: Use Coaches That Support You and Your Team in Learning In The Way That Best Suits Your Needs
The next step in getting the most out of a coaching company (and not wasting your money) is to identify how you learn best.
💥 Some people are READERS and prefer for all of the content to be provided in long written formats.
💥 Some people are AUDITORY LEARNERS and love sitting in a conference room listening for two to three days.
💥 Some people are VISUAL LEARNERS and want to watch videos or webinars.
💥 Some people are KINESTHETIC LEARNERS and learn best by doing and actually experiencing the lesson so that it really anchors in.
A strong coach can work with you in the way that makes the most sense to you. It’s vital for you to understand your learning style in order to get the most out of a coaching program, and to then be able to convey those lessons to your team. (It’s also important to understand the learning styles of your team!)
Personally, I am a visual learner and a kinesthetic learner, which is why I love to use diagrams and visual imagery to explain points. I also love to provide experiential learning, which is why we do UYB Experiences around the world.
Point being, take a little time to assess your learning style and find coaches that support how you learn best, and confirm that your potential coaching company can meet those needs!

Tip #3: Find Someone Who Will Let You Grow The Way You Want To Grow!
Business growth means different things to different people.
When I was first growing my business, I had the number $83,333 etched into my forehead (virtually), as that was the monthly benchmark to achieve a $1,000,000 run rate.
I wanted to grow big. I wanted the million-dollar law firm business. I wanted to travel the world, and take vacations, and not have to sit at my desk for 12 hours a day. That was MY dream. That was MY vision for growth. Now, I’m on a mission to grow a $15 million company. My dream is to help entrepreneurs and business owners around the world.
We each have OUR own vision of growth and success.
A key to finding the right coaching program for you is to understand your growth pattern and find a program that will help you get there. Some of our clients just want to grow a little bit and dial in their systems and processes. This will allow them to take longer vacations, spend one or two months overseas each year, and have a profitable business that runs without them. We love helping them build the business they want to have and live the life they want to live!
Other business owners we work with want to build up multi-million dollar businesses, and it is so exciting to watch them surpass the $3 million, $5 million and $8 million milestones. Some business owners want a business that allows them to work a specific schedule or number of hours, fulfilling a balance in their lives that working as a business owner affords them to choose.
The thing to keep in mind is that the systems you need to run an $8 million business are very different than the systems you need if you want to stay around the $1,000,000 mark. That is why it’s important to find a coaching program that gets where you want to go and can help you create a strategic plan to get there at the pace you desire.
Pace is another important factor you should consider when choosing a coaching program. Some people want to grow very, very fast. While this is fun and keeps you busy, it is also very stressful. Other people want to grow at a much slower rate and enjoy life at a steadier pace. Both are completely valid.
Again, find a coaching program that will meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.
Once you have a gauge on 1) how long it should take, 2) the learning style that’s best for you, and 3) the type of growth you desire to achieve, you’ll be equipped to find a coaching program that can meet you where you are, service and support you for window of growth time, and provide you with strong value in exchange for your precious time and hard earned dollars.
Quit overpaying for things that you don’t need and methods that don’t support what your unique goals. Don’t grow a business based on someone else’s vision of success – choose to create your plan for success.
We encourage business owners to interview multiple coaches to find the one that resonates with what they need at this period of time. Get out there and talk to some different coaches and find the one that will give you more of the coaching you need while spending less on coaching!
