“Business plan” is a term that tends to strike fear into the hearts of small business owners – not because it’s a long, drawn out process to write one, but because we think it has to be. At least, that’s what I thought once upon a time…and plenty of my clients have been in the same position. Many people think of it as an “I’ll do it someday” sort of thing, and it keeps getting put off. But what is the importance of a strong business plan?
AI has taken the world by storm over the past year. It’s impacting almost every area of our lives, from how we search Google and Amazon to how we write emails and text messages – but for most people, the biggest area of concern for most businesses is the use of tools like ChatGPT. It’s now a given that AI is going to be used, but how it’s used is going to make all the difference, especially in your copy.
AI is the buzzword on everyone’s lips right now. Since the advent of ChatGPT in November of 2022, AI technology has been advancing at an exponential rate, and it seems like everyone’s getting on board. It can be a very useful tool, but used incorrectly, it can also cause some very large problems. Today, I’d like to share some tips to help you in developing the systems your team needs to use AI effectively and ethically in your small business.
The first step in this process involves understanding the functions and limitations of AI. What can it do, and what should it not be used for? What can it help you streamline, and which parts of the process require human oversight and involvement?
We all know an Executive Assistant can do things like handle your email and calendar, but are you aware of all the other ways they can make your life easier – and your business more profitable?
As a business coach, one of the most common questions I get asked is, “I know I need an Executive Assistant, but how do I work with them? What do I delegate? How do I train them?” (Ok, that’s three questions, but they’re usually asked all at once!)
I firmly believe that every business owner needs an EA, and that your EA should be one of your first hires. A lot of business owners question whether they can afford one…my answer to that is that you can’t afford not to have one.
Here are three reasons why.
On average, 4.4 million businesses are started each year in the US alone; in 2022, that number jumped to just over 5 million. For some people, the idea of entrepreneurship starts as a young child. The dream develops and the goals get set of how to build a product or service to help millions of people.
For others the bug develops later in life, often with the realization that there is a missing element that can help people and they have the solution to do so.
Either way, entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There is even a month just to celebrate entrepreneurship and the many hurdles that one faces in developing a business to better society.
Recently, I had a chance to sit down with my former Executive Assistant; she was one of my first hires as I grew my company, and over the years she has worn many hats. In fact, she now runs a department! In the livestream that we hosted, she gave some incredible tips that she used to best support me – first as my EA, and over the years in multiple roles.
