Curious of the Value of Buying Systems Templates: Its Time vs Money
Let’s talk about the value of buying a systems package versus doing it on your own.
Systems are the policies, the procedures, the templates, the examples, the checklists, the videos, the illustrations, the diagrams and the workflows that establish how we want things done in the most efficient way possible. These are the base tools that allow people to thrive in their job and feel confident and productive each day knowing they are rocking their job.
The problem is that creating systems can take years of work and countless hours of crafting and editing and refining.
A common discussion I have is about the value of buying systems templates that have been human vetted and approved and it comes down to time vs money with a heathy dose of sanity!
Here are seven reasons why you want to save time, money, and mental energy by investing in a package that’s going to help you get there faster.
Number one, it’s going to feel better immediately!
Knowing you have a plan and knowing there is a structure to work from will immediately reduce wasted time and mental energy. Everything is made easier with a plan.
Number two, main language already written.
When you purchase templates, it has al the key base language for you to quickly review. You will then have all the opportunities to craft and adjust, but the templates are there and 90% written for you. This can be a huge relief from staring at a blank page.
Number three, you’re going to learn some things
We all have different experiences and a benefit of reading through a template that has been vetted by other business owners is that you will often learn things you might not have thought of, or find some streamlined methods that will improve your already existing systems.
Number four, it will be easier to hire new people.
As your business grows, you likely will need to hire. When you have the right systems in place, it will be easier to go out and find the right human. It will be easier to find and attract who you are looking for with the right personality for the tasks that will be their responsibility to handle. This improves your chances of hiring the right person who will thrive in that position rather than be incur turnover in the position.
Number five, revisions are always an option.
Knowing that you always have the opportunity to adjust, to tweak, to amend based on the person you hire can also be greatly reassuring. But you’ve got to start somewhere, and it’s easier with job descriptions and job ads already written for you.
Number six, having an onboarding plan
It is the number one issue why most onboarding falls apart. “Onboarding” can’t just last for a day. It should be at least two weeks, and you should know what you are going to do day by day to train this person up so they can thrive in the position. Onboarding agendas and checklists can be critical to staying on track and making sure you complete the training on all areas. Using templates that give you the base can save you 10-12 hours alone.
Number seven, productivity!
Getting this person up and productive and profitable in the first two weeks is what is going to allow you to start seeing immediate results and even show how you are making a return on investment on your decision to hire this person. People need clarity on what results you seek from them so they can focus their work with intention so you both feel great about the work they are doing for you.
So if you love drafting systems on your own like I do, great, enjoy those next 12 hours on the couch drafting. If drafting systems are not your favorite pastime… save yourself a ton of wasted mental energy and anguish and likely save your company tons of money by purchasing some systems and fast track your success.
So next time you want someone to do something for you or you want to hire for a new position, evaluate if you have the right systems in place and if not, get those vital systems and stop wasting your time and money.

Peering Inside the Life of an Entrepreneur
On average, 4.4 million businesses are started each year in the US alone; in 2022, that number jumped to just over 5 million. For some people, the idea of entrepreneurship starts as a young child. The dream develops and the goals get set of how to build a product or service to help millions of people.
For others the bug develops later in life, often with the realization that there is a missing element that can help people and they have the solution to do so.
Either way, entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. There is even a month just to celebrate entrepreneurship and the many hurdles that one faces in developing a business to better society.

The Power of Checklists
Did you know checklists (as we know them) have only been around for the past 90 years or so? It’s true. The first recorded use of a checklist was in 1935 by Boeing, shortly after a prototype aircraft crashed. They realized that using a concise list of items they could “check off” – quite literally a “check list” – would not only save them money, but could save lives. Who knew a checklist could be so powerful?
