4 Ways Clarity will Empower Your Team for Success

Growing your team can be both extremely satisfying and a bit terrifying. On one hand, you know you need the help, and you’re beyond grateful for the opportunity to bring people on who can step in and free you up to do the higher level tasks that need your focus. On the other hand, your business is your baby, and the thought of handing parts of it over to someone who may or may not handle things appropriately is stressful.

This tension tends to cause one of two reactions:

1. Create the systems and lines of communication that will give your team the clarity to do their jobs with excellence
2. Hand over the responsibility for completing tasks, but micromanage every step of the way

Unfortunately, option #2 tends to be the default for many of us. It offers the illusion of moving tasks off your plate but allows you to retain complete control. (And let’s face it: as business owners, we tend to like to control things. It’s part of having a dominant, ambitious personality.)

This option might feel sustainable for a little while, but pretty soon, it will lead to more stress, less trust, and ultimately, burnout.

I think we can all agree that this isn’t where we want to be!

The other option – creating the foundation that brings clarity – does take more work and planning on the front end, but it also offers you the opportunity to develop a team you can truly depend on and grow a profitable business that will allow you to thrive.

That sounds like a much better path to me, but I realize that the mindset shift can be challenging to make. (It was for me, and it has been for a number of the leaders I’ve worked with over the years.) Here are some of the ways that equipping your team with clarity will empower your team for success!

Chances are, you would want to know that they will step up and take responsibility for their role.

That work ethic and desire isn’t enough, though. It’s a necessary foundation, but you have a part to play in this as well.
